Emergency absentee ballots

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if:

• you have a medical emergency within five days of Election Day
• your work schedule changes within 5 days of the election and you will no longer be able to vote at the polls on Election Day.
• you are a caregiver of a person who requires emergency treatment by a licensed physician within five days before Election Day.
• you have a family who dies within 5 days before Election Day.

Alaska law has no reference to emergency ballots.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are admitted to the hospital after 5pm on the second Friday before Election Day and before 5pm on Election Day. You will have to provide identification and sign a statement affirming that you have or are experiencing an emergency.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized and no longer able to vote in person. You may designate a person to deliver your application and pick up your ballot. Your voted ballot must be returned to the county clerk office no later than 7:30PM on Election Day.

All California elections are held by mail, and the state laws do not mention emergency ballots. If you are emergency worker who has been assigned outside of the state, your local election office can send your ballot via email or fax if needed.

• All Colorado elections are held by mail, but there is something similar to an emergency absentee ballot.
• If you are hospitalized or otherwise confined on Election Day, you may request in a personally signed written statement that the election official send a replacement ballot. If you are unable to have someone pick up and deliver the ballot to you, the election official may electronically deliver the ballot.
• The replacement ballot request must be made before 5PM Election Day and returned no later than 7PM Election Day.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are become disabled or are hospitalized within 6 days of Election Day. You can choose to appoint a designee to deliver the application and ballot. Your application must include the date of injury and the address of the hospital (if you are hospitalized).

There is no emergency ballot provision, but you have until NOON the day before Election Day to submit a ballot request.

District of Columbia law has no mention of emergency ballots.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized within 9 days of Election Day. You must request an emergency ballot in writing. You can designate a friend or family member to drop off your application and pick up your ballot.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized within 10 days of an election.

All elections are held by mail in Hawaii but there is something similar to an emergency absentee ballot. If you are unable to vote the ballot that was mailed to your house for some unexpected reason, you can request a replacement ballot after 4:30PM 7 days before an election.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized within 5 days of Election Day.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized within 14 days of Election Day. You can designate another voter to pick up your emergency ballot and bring it to you.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized, injured, or there is a local disaster, within the 11 days before Election Day. The local election board will determine your eligibilty, and will then mail the ballot or personally deliver it to you. Your voteed ballot must be received by 6PM Election Day.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized within 3 days of Election Day. Your application must be received no later than 4 hours before polls close on Election Day.

You can request an emergency absentee ballot if you have a temporary illness or disability, or if you are taking care of someone who is ill or disabled. You can also request an emergency absentee ballot if you are not fluent in English, or if you are assisting someone who isn't fluent in English. Please note: Kansas calls absentee ballot "advance voting ballots."

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you experience a medical emergency within 14 days of Election Day. This application must be notarized. The application form may be requested and delivered by your a family member or another person who you designate to act on your behalf.

If you are eligible to vote absentee but do not have enough time to return your ballot by mail, you can waive your right to a secret ballot and ask the clerk to send your ballot electronically (via email or fax), or to give your ballot to an immediate family member. If you receive your ballot electronically, you can return your voted ballot via fax. If the voted ballot is returned by hand delivery, the person delivering the ballot must sign a statement indicating that they have your consent to deliver the voted ballot.

You may request an emergency ballot after the regular absentee ballot deadline if one of the following applies:

• You will be unexpectedly absent from the municipality on Election Day
• You have a physical disability
• You are unable to travel to the polls as a resident of a coastal island ward or precinct
• You have an incapacity or illness that has resulted in being unable to leave home or a treatment facility

You may submit a ballot request online through the Friday before Election Day. You may authorize a person to submit a ballot request on your behalf at the local election board office until polls close on Election Day.

You may request an emergency absente ballot if you are hospitalized after NOON 7 days before Election Day.

You may request an emergency absentee ballot if you become physically disabled or will be absent from your city of residence due to illness or death in the family.

You may request an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized. The dealine to request an emergency absentee ballot is 5PM the day before Election Day. You may also submit an absentee application to election judges delivering absentee ballots to hospitalized voters.

Mississippi law has no reference to emergency ballots.

Missouri does not offer emergency absentee ballots. If you miss the regular absentee ballot deadline, you will have to vote in person.

You can request an emergency absentee ballot if you have a health emergency that occurs after 5PM the Friday before Election Day. Your voted ballot must be received by 8PM on Election Day.

Emergency absentee ballots seem to only be available to emergenc responders who are working outside the county. If you are an emergency responder, you may request an emergency ballot via fax or email.

All elections are held by mail and there is no mention of emergency ballots. Nevada provides an accessible ballot portal for voters with disabilities.

You can request an emergency absentee ballot if you are an emergency service worker who is called to duty after NOON on the Friday before Election Day. The secretary of state, the attorney general, and the department of safety will make reasonable efforts to ensure that you have any necessary absentee forms, affadavits and any other material needed to cast your vote.

New Jersey does not have a specific emergency ballot procedure, but you may apply in person for a mail ballot until 3PM 1 day before Election Day.

You may request an provisional ballot (not an emergency absente ballot) if you become ill, disabled, hospitalized or otherwise confined within 5 days of Election Day. The written request must include your signature and the signature of your health care provider. You may designate a representative to retrieve the ballot from the county clerk. Your voted provisional ballot must be returned by the close of polls on Election Day

There is no emergency ballot procedure for most voters. You can vote by emergency absentee ballot only if you are an emergency responder. If you are an emergency responder and will be away performing duties on Election Day, you may request a ballot after the standard absentee deadline (15 days before Election Day). This special ballot will be issued immediately using overnight express delivery unless there is a designated preference for facsimile or electronic transmission. Your voted ballot can be returned to any board of elections office or polling location within the state, but it must be received by the close of polls on Election Day.

You may request an emergency absentee ballot starting on 5PM the Tuesday before the election if you ill or otherwise unable to vote in person on election day. The request must be received before 5PM 1 day before Election Day.

If you have an emergency on Election Day, you may designate someone to request a ballot on your behalf. The completed ballot must be returned by 4PM Election Day to be counted.

• You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if you or your minor child are hospitalized as a result of an accident or a medical emergency occurring before Election Day.
• The application must be in writing and delivered to the board of elections no later than 3PM Election Day.
• The application must include the name of the hospital, the hospitalization date, and the offices you are qualified to vote for.
• You may have a family member retrieve the ballot for you, otherwise the board will arrange for a ballot to be delivered to the hospital for you.

If after 5PM on the Tuesday before Election Day you or someone in your care are physically incapacitated, you may apply for an absentee ballot or designate someone to apply for you. The request must be signed and include a sworn statement by a physician.

All elections are held by mail. Oregon law has no reference to emergency ballots.

You can request an emegency absentee ballot if you experience an unexpected illness, disability or last-minute absence from your municipality within 7 days of the election.

You may apply for an emergency absentee ballot 20 days before through 4PM 1 day before Election Day.

If you are admitted to a hospital within the 4 days before Election Day, you may designate a family member obtain an a ballot, bring it to you to vote, and then return your voted ballot.

If you are confined due to sickness or disability, you may receive a ballot by messenger. The deadline to submit your request is 3PM Election Day.

You may apply for an emergency absentee ballot starting 20 days before Election Day if you are hospitalized. Your ballot must be witness by another registered voter.

You may be eligible to vote "absentee by personal appearance" between 5 days and 1 day before the election if

• there is a death in your family and you will be attending a funeral outside the county on Election Day; or
• you receive a subpoena or service of processing that requires your presence on Election Day

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot under the following two conditions:

1. Illness or disability If you become sck or disabled within 11 days of an election, and this will prevent you from voting in person on Election Day. Your request must be accompanied by a statement from your medical practioner.
2. Death of a relative. If a family member dies witin 4 days of the election, you can request an emergency ballot. You will have to include a statement with the date of death and your relationship to the deceased person.

You may request an emergency absentee ballot if you are hospitalized at any point after regular mail ballots have been sent, but before the close of polls on Election Day. It's best to call your Local Election Office if you need an emergency absentee ballot.

You can request an emergency absentee ballot if you experience an unexpected illness or hospitalization. The request can be made by a family member or healthcare provider acting on your behalf. The officer request deadline is 5PM 1 day before Election Day, but the town clerk may choose to accept late requests. Ballots will be personally delivered to the person who is incapacitated.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot if any of the following happen within 3 days of Election Day

• you become very ill or are hopitalized
• a family member becomes very ill, or is hospitalized, or dies
• you are an election officer who was assigned to work in a precinct other than your own precinct
• your have a work assignement, or other work obligation, that will require you to be out of town on Election Day

All elections are conducted by mail. There is no specific emergency ballot provision, but a replacement ballot can be requested by phone, mail, in person or electronically. Replacement ballots can be requested and printed through VoteWA.gov.

You can apply for an emergency absentee ballot within 7 days of the election if any of the following are true:

• you are unable to vote in person because of illness, physical disability, immobility due to advanced age, or another medical condition
• you are hospitalized
• you are a resident of a nursing home

If you are hospitalized, you may apply for an absentee ballot or have someone apply on your behalf. If you meet the registration requirement, but are not currently registered to vote, you may complete a voter registration form at the same time as you apply for a ballot.

Wyoming does not appear to offer emergency absentee ballots.
